Jennifer Thomas, Traveling on Faith

Laguardia to Washington, D.C. to Tampa, to Miami to New Orleans. All of this for the sake of peace and justice. We never lost hope. We tried to wheel and deal and negotiate our way onto flights. Running to make the plane from crazy connections. Thank God at last we made it.

In New York we tried several agents to get us out of there from 6 a.m. Finally a kind woman was able to figure something out. We left hundreds of stranded folks in that airport. It was a divine order that we should make the plane. We were the blessed ones. Thank God we made it.

In D.C. we were interviewed by Fox 5 and Canadian television. This almost made us miss our flight. Another airline promised seats and at the last they failed. We got a flight to Tampa. Thank God we made it.

In Tampa, Bibiane got a joy ride and tour of the airport because she sat down in a wheelchair to take a break, was wheeled away by an attendant and never told the attendant that she was only going to another gate and not to baggage claim. I ran behind her with two suitcases - hers and mine, leaving Louise behind watching the commotion. We retrieved Bibi and laughed the whole way. We got a flight after 4 hours supposedly going to New Orleans. Thank God we made it.

On the plane, they announced we would be going to Miami. We thought we were on the wrong plane. Technically we weren't. The airlines just failed to tell us that we had to transer in Miami to another flight! Thank God we made it.

Somewhere around midnight we arrived in New Orleans. The welcome sign was a relief to look at. Headed to our hotel and crashed. Today was V-Day, a Victory Day. Thank God we made it.
