Application Instructions for WILPF Internship

Sending in the Application Materials

WILPF strongly prefers all application materials to arrive together in one large envelope via mail or hand delivery. But if absolutely necessary, references can be sent separately. For those who reside outside the United States, emailing portions of your application is acceptable.

Application Form

We encourage applicants to type the requested information on the form, however, due to the difficulties applicants may incur in typing in the information on a Word document, handwritten ones are acceptable. Please do not attempt to re-create the Application Form on your own and type in your information.

Application Form Addendum

There is no form for the addendum. Applicants should compose a one page, single--sided document that succinctly answers all five questions listed on the application form. (Not one page per question, but one page for all questions combined).

WILPF New York Metro has an office that is alive with activity and action.

Our collaborative projects are thriving! The Raging Grannies practice their songs there. The Granny Peace Brigade meets there. Heathcare Now! is organizing a single payer health care from the NY office.

It is a hub of activity. And you are welcome to come and participate.

What can you do?

There are more volunteer opportunities than can be listed here.

You can volunteer:

* One day a week.

* One day a month.

* A task from home.

We have things to do! Come volunteer.

Special Focus Projects for Interns

WILPF is currently working on two Focus Projects:

Genocide and High Tech Torture: Tales from the Congo

-- From the glamour and rarity of diamonds to the common cell phone, African resources flow out of the country through multi-national funnels. This process benefits only foreign interests while destitutes and spoils the current colony.

Militarization of Fashion: Examines societal buy-in to the War Culture.

-- If Fashion distinguishes us and uniforms unite us then dressing in a uniform as a statement of style indicates that we dress to kill, daily. This project challenges us to expose this trend and to notice the prevalence of military culture in civilian life.

Think Global Act Local

Become a WILPF Member!

Becoming a WILPF member makes you part of a global network of activists, educators, and organizers. You hold the staus as a international, national and New York Metro member. You receive the Triennial National Peace & Freedom Magazine as well as NY Metro Newsletter publications. You are entitled to members-only access in the National website and special invitations to WILPF events. WILPF NY Metro will even send you a Starter Kit to get you active (even if all you have is a spare five minutes!).
