of
The Women's International League for Peace and Freedom New York Metro
(WILPF NY METRO), A NOT-FOR-PROFIT CORPORATION
To be approved by Membership prior to 31MAY08

ARTICLE I ORGANIZATION
The name of this organization shall be the Women’s International League of Peace and Freedom, hereinafter referred to as WILPF.

ARTICLE II AIMS AND PRINCIPLES
The aims and principles of WILPF are:
To bring together women of different political beliefs and philosophies who are united in their determination to study, make known and help abolish the causes and legitimization of war.
• To work toward world peace
• Total and universal disarmament
• The abolition of violence and coercion in the settlement of conflict and their substitution in every case of negotiation and conciliation
• The strengthening of the United Nations system
• The continuous development and implementation of international law
• Women’s political, social and economic empowerment to achieve gender equality and justice for all.
• Cooperation among all people
• Environmentally sustainable development

Membership Meeting Minutes
1199 Union Hall, Bread & Roses Gallery
Monday, October 6th, 2008 - 7 pm

I. Molly Klopot welcomed everyone to the meeting and turned the meeting over to the Program Coordinator, Jennifer Thomas.

II. Minutes were read and accepted from April 2008 Membership Meeting.

III. Program Coordinator gave a report. (See attached letter).

IV. Vote on Amendment to Bylaws regarding a travel fund. Unanimous agreement with the following revisions:

“A travel fund will be allocated for staff and branch representatives to attend events,
conferences, etc. as needed and approved by the Coordinating committee in advance.”

V. Financial Coordinator gave a report. (see Attached Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet)

VI. Vote on Financial Guidelines created by a sub committee of the Coordinating Committee. Unanimous agreement with revisions. (See attached Financial Guidelines)

VII. Calendar Events were reviewed. Suggestions and Comments were made.
- The Granny Peace Brigade Teach-in on Star Wars was overlooked and not entered in the calendar.
- Medgar Evers College is putting our Congo Flier in their newspaper

My to do list is long and now I am collating it so you all can see what I am doing. This list is not comprehensive. It will change often. And it is not in an order of importance. : ) It's an information sharing page for you all at the Branch to be aware of what's on my radar screen... Fix Categories --- DONE --- undo Top Level Category being required. -- The categories still need development and fleshing out. Set up emails --- DONE --- go to webhost and add emails --- DONE --- change the contact page to not be email links (this will reduce spam, which I saw yesterday was rampant.) Add Site Contact Form Page --- DONE --- make it reply to a feedback email. Fix the Chat Room --- DONE --- I am going to try another chat module... the BOWOB one is odd and I am not so sure about it. It takes a bunch of steps to update... UPDATE: I replaced the chat module to an internal one... it is likely fairly limited in the bells and whistles, but it will get us started.... and it makes an archive of the chats... Keep that in mind... This is a public forum... : ) Add calendar events to calendar --- DONE --- I added the ActivistResource.org calendar.

Going to Go for A Walk

Hey WILPF NY Metro women: I have been updating the site, and then this afternoon there was a server problem for a 30 minute period (all solved, btw.) and I realized that I have some outside work to do. So, I am going outside to mow the furry lawn... But I will be working on the site tonight. Stephanie
